Workshops

Small groups, real tools, and something to take home. Every workshop runs once a day.

  • Teach a machine your grip

    90 min · Hall A · 12 places

Guide a brass arm through a carving stroke until it repeats it, then change the stroke and watch it learn again.

  • Repair, don't replace

    2 hours · Hall B · 16 places

Open a broken clock or radio, find the fault with a mentor, and leave with it working.

  • Indigo and punched cards

    3 hours · Dye house · 10 places

Weave a small cloth on a loom you program with cards you punch by hand.

Manifesto

A good tool makes the person holding it more capable, never less needed.

Hikari Kōbō is three days for the people who make tools and the people who use them. We show work that is repaired more than replaced, taught more than programmed, and made for a neighbour before a market.
